Goal

Build five fireworks together for the highest team score.

Your turn

Give a colour or number clue, play a card, or discard when clues are spent. You cannot see your own hand.

Scoring & end

The game ends at three storm strikes, a perfect 25, or after the final turns when the deck runs out.

Build a show together

Hanabi is cooperative. Five colors each contain three 1s, two 2s, two 3s, two 4s, and one 5. Play each color in order from 1 to 5. Your teammates see your cards, but you only see the backs of your own. Two or three players start with five cards each; four or five start with four.

One action per turn

Spend one of eight shared clue tokens to tell another player the color or number of all matching cards in their hand. A clue must point to at least one card; you cannot clue yourself. Or choose one of your own hidden cards to play. If it is the next number in its color, add it to that firework; completing a 5 returns one clue token if there is space. A wrong play goes to the discard pile and adds a storm strike.

Discard one of your cards to return a clue token. You cannot discard while all eight tokens are available. Playing or discarding draws a replacement if the deck has cards.

The finale

The game ends immediately if all five fireworks reach 5 or the team makes its third misplay. After the last card is drawn, everyone, including the player who drew it, gets one more turn. Add the five completed firework heights for a score from 0 to 25. A score of 16 or more counts as a team success on Tableclub; 25 is perfect.
